Audigue ("the extension") is a browser extension that reads the text content of
web pages, Google Docs and Notion pages aloud using text-to-speech. This policy
explains what data the extension handles and how.
The short version
Audigue has no servers of its own. It does not collect, store or transmit your
personal data to the developer or to any third party. The only information it
saves is your own settings, kept locally in your browser.
What the extension accesses
Page text. When you press Play, Audigue reads the visible text
of the page you are currently viewing. This text is used only to generate speech
and is not stored or sent to the developer.
Your preferences. Your reading speed, selected voice and chosen
engine are stored locally on your device using the browser's local storage
(chrome.storage.local). They never leave your browser.
How the page text is processed
Audigue offers two text-to-speech engines, and where your text goes depends on your choice:
VoiceBox engine (optional). The text is sent to the VoiceBox
application running locally on your own computer at
http://localhost:17493. It does not leave your machine and is not
sent to any remote server.
Browser engine, local (on-device) voices. Speech is produced
entirely on your device by your browser or operating system. The text does not
leave your machine.
Browser engine, network voices. Some voices provided by your
browser or operating system are "network" voices. When you select one of these,
the page text may be sent by your operating system or browser to its voice
provider in order to generate the audio. This processing is performed by your
system's voice provider, not by Audigue. Audigue labels these voices in its
interface so you can choose a local voice if you prefer.
Data sharing and selling
Audigue does not sell or transfer your data to third parties. It does not use your
data for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness or any purpose unrelated to
reading pages aloud.
Permissions
activeTab - to access the page you are currently viewing, only when you use the extension.
scripting - to extract the readable text from the active tab.
storage - to remember your preferences locally.
host permission (localhost:17493) - to talk to the optional local VoiceBox application.
Children
Audigue is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Continued
use of the extension after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
